It was not the easiest journey, but it was mine that I created my own way. Through building a life for myself and my family, I recognized a key lesson.
As I unpacked the last few boxes, I was struck by an idea. After many years of consideration, I realized now was the perfect time. I became a licensed REALTOR® in Idaho and dove all in.
As a child, I lived all over the country, from California to Maryland to Florida. By the time I graduated high school, California was home. At 18, I moved out to build my life on my own with no family support or handouts as a single mother.
I have always been someone with a plan, and that time was no different. Through gaining work experience in high school and earning my associate degree early, I secured a job with the state. For years I moved through different county and state positions, always trying to help people, whether in Highway Patrol, the Department of Justice or Welfare to Work. In every context, I wanted to leave others better off than before we met.
It was hard, no doubt. Being a single parent almost always is. However, I just did what I needed to do. I even bought my first house at 21 years old and sold it two years later for a profit. Though I grew up around my grandfather, who built his legacy through real estate investing, that first purchase and sale showed me what I could accomplish on my own.
Eventually, I got into property management and worked in all types of properties from commercial to residential to industrial. For a long time, it was just my oldest son and me. Then in 2009, I met my husband, Brett. I continued to build my career while my family grew with our two youngest children.
As time went on, California was no longer the best fit for our family. For over a year, we searched for somewhere else to live. Then a trip to Idaho changed everything. We fell in love with the area, the people and the lifestyle here. Within two weeks, we were packing up to move.
After our move, more and more friends came to me with real estate questions. Though I worked in property management for over a decade in California, I was also a licensed REALTOR®—a requirement for the job in that state. I had sold a handful of homes for friends and family, but never focused on building a business. Then I saw the opportunity right in front of me. With my background in property management and coming from California, I could help others making the move too. It was also a way for me to add value to the community.
At some point, I recognized everyone is going to have difficult times. It is inevitable. And yet, those hard times, what we do with them, is often what makes us who we are. Getting here was not the easiest journey, but I am grateful for everything I have experienced because it made me the person I am today.
My oldest son is grown now with a family of his own, and I am a proud grandmother. I am excited about the life my family has built here in Idaho, my real estate business that I built all on my own, the real estate team I have found with my husband (also a licensed REALTOR®), and our future. Whenever I am not working, I enjoy hiking, biking, boating, waterskiing, snow skiing, snorkeling, hot yoga, spending time with my family, and watching my kids play sports. My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is adding value to people’s lives.
Before I go on about what I do, I like to get to know my clients. Asking questions is a crucial part of the process for me so I can find out what is important to you and the best solutions available to meet those needs. Once we have done that, I will relate my skills and how I can help you with your unique situation. Real estate is an anomaly in that every transaction is different. That is something I never lose sight of as I continue to grow and learn, becoming a better person and REALTOR® all the time.
Adding value is the most important part for me; I want you to feel better off than before. If I ever do not know the answer, I will go out and get it because taking action is what has gotten me to where I am today. I have experience with all types of real estate from commercial to residential and everything in between. Once the transaction is closed, I hope to continue adding value as your lifelong REALTOR®.
Sincerely,
Nicole Morgan
